Alnwick Water Feature
This project was initially inspired by the Duchess of Northumberland’s vision to create a spectacular showcase of water features set against a backdrop of vibrant gardens.
Ritmac installed numerous interactive water sculptures, pools and jet displays located in different gardened areas over the 12 acre plot that are open to the public to enjoy.
Ritmac’s water features bring energy and excitement to the gardens which had become somewhat lifeless and unloved over the years. This rejuvenation is delivered no more so than by the garden’s centrepiece; the Grand Cascade, which is the largest water feature of its kind in the UK. Under the control of Ritmac’s underground pumping system, jets of water are fired high into the air in a ritous display every half hour throughout the day. Some of the jets leap from one pond to the next over the intermediate walkway with onlookers underneath.
Ritmac are delighted to have been involved in such a interesting and worthwhile project that has transformed the Alnwick Gardens into a popular tourist attraction. Below are some photographs of the onsite construction process and a few snapshots of the features in actions.
