Water Cooling System for Carbon Fibre Plant

Our customer, based in North Lanarkshire, needed a solution for the water cooling pumping system for their Carbon Fibre plant. They required to increase their cooling capacity from their maximum of 20m³/hr with their existing pump to 45m³/hr. The existing booster set comprised of three Lowara fixed speed CA 200/35 pumps.

Working in line with the supplier of the chiller’s recommendations, we advised an increase in pipework sizing on the suction of the pumpset, from 2½” to 4” and an increase on some of the machine pipework from 1½” to 2½”. We offered to supply and commission a Lowara GHV30/15SV06 variable speed booster set.

The unit was successfully installed and commissioned on duty/assist/standby operation, giving the client 45m³/hr at 5 bar.
