Inverness Rail Depot
Summary
The CSMD Drainage system project involved designing a bespoke pumping package system suitable to pump out waste water and various contaminated fluids from multiple train service pits. A main portion of the criteria placed upon Ritmac was to ensure the pumping system would be able to pump a variety of fluids ranging from oily waste to brake fluids and glycol. The system would need to be capable of passing a range of solids from nuts & bolts to metal swarf but also maintain the capability of pumping against a large heads. All vital stages of the pumping system required redundancy systems built into it to maintain a safe working environment.
The project brief challenged us to design and install:
- A method of carrying the pumped fluid from the train pits, integrated into the existing equipment.
- A transition method through the suspended rail system.
- A method of maintaining the sound level of the pumping equipment to below 60dB.
- A suitable intermediate separation tank.
